and so much so, his intelligence can take a hike now and then, but he does seem to sincerely love and understand people.

Do you remember when he drew troop movements into the sand on international TV in the beginning of the first Iraq war? Holy Cow, whatever Angels watch over him gave him a gift with that one! That's treason if I've ever seen it, and I have not been into the idea of putting troops in the Middle East for any reason.
