I've been invited to talk to a psychiatrist at Cambridge Hospital regarding appropriate treatment of transgendered persons in inpatient units. I hope that I responded to the message in time, they called me last week but my cell phone does an extremely poor job at telling me I have voice mail (remember that if you leave me voice mail and I don't respond). They suggested that after my experiences in 2005, I'd surely have some input, and I definitely do. I will say this though, even with all the problems I had and witnessed on Cahill 3 a couple years ago, I'd still rate the Cambridge Hospital impatient units as the best of the many that I've locked up in. I hope I can be of assistance in making improvements.

Wowie! I hope it works out too! What a great opportunity! How did they know to contact you about this?
Have you considered contacting the phone company? Is it in the design of the phone or does the network send out few notifications?

They were one of the people I dealt with the last time I was inpatient and were aware of everything that went down. However, while the name does ring a bell from the name alone I'm unsure which one of the many psychiatrists I dealt with they are. I'm much better at faces than names, and am sure I'll recognize them if we talk in person.

I believe it's a problem with my phone and the software it runs. I doubt there is much the phone company could do other than recommending I buy a new cell phone (which isn't a realistic option right now).
Thats great that you get to help out! We liked the dissociative disorders unit at McLean in Belmont, but lots of people seemed to have hated it. It was actually the place we had felt safest in a long time so maybe thats why we liked it. There were definitely things that could be improved upon though...like lots of days we had too much free time, and like when brittney came out and their immediate reaction was to want her to go back in and get Beth back out. ~shawna
