When you find a discarded scratch ticket (not in a trash can), do you check if to see it is a winner mistakenly tossed aside?

I got into the habit recently of picking up tickets off of the ground, checking to see if they are winners, and then throwing them away in a more socially appropriate place (like a trash can). I figured it was a community-centered thing to do, and had potential for rewards.

After many months of doing this, I finally found one that was a winner! However it turns out that I was the one who'd dropped it in the first place...

last time i picked one up it was worth $20.

i buy scratchies now and then, like i occasionally buy a mega zillions ticket if the pot goes over $100 million.

nevertheless winning $20 on a scratchy i didn't pay for kicked off a pretty magical weekend.
