I'm still here. But I'm just not as enthusiastic about this place as I was. Everything now seems to require a workaround. I no longer encourage others to start journals here. I no longer feel any loyalty to this place. I'm only here because there doesn't seem to be any place better. But as soon as that better comes along, I don't see much keeping me on LiveJournal. Six Apart has run what a place I loved right into the ground.

GreatestJournal has cut down on the number ads a bit over time, but they still have more ads than the none I get with my permanent account here. I also find their site layout and interface atrocious.

Aside from the site design issues, the LiveJournal user community is a big part of why I'm still here. The GreatestJournal community feels more like MySpace and that's not what interested in it.

Another LJ-based site would be great, as that would make for an easy importing of my journal. Unfortunately, GreatestJournal just does make the grade.

I've lost a lot of my enthusiasm too. The red flag thing is even getting on my nerves now, and i haven't freaked out about the other stuff 6A/LJ's been up to the last six months.

what's the red flag thing?
i would love to hear more about what pisses people off, because the only difference I've noticed is that in some circumstances it defaults to reading everything I type in as text instead of as potential HTML, and that makes all my links and formatting look all wonky.

Oh, you didn't notice the new red and orange flag buttons that are available on every non-friends-locked post? This is a new feature that was added yesterday. You can click that flag button to report the post to LJ as offensive or explicit.

Now, this isn't something that is unique to LJ - i've seen "report this post" buttons on many forum sites. But knowing 6A, i'm certain they have not given full thought to the process by which they are going to handle reported posts, what process the reported user can use to appeal it, etc. etc. etc. I just don't have faith in them to have fully thought it through.

I here for community, you being member(s) thereof. I keep journal
backed up. Probably should write script to snarf friends info too.

in a matter of speaking yes.

Snarf is also used to denote copying.

As in a script that would save all your friends info to an offline file
should you be deleted. Snarf the information so you could find them again.

We agree. We have a difficult time even posting here anymore because every time we get back on here something has changed again. Its very annoying.
