What the fuck?As part of the current pattern of actions, this is quite alarming — it demonstrates that SUP/LJ now actively and openly disapproves of and targets specific groups. |

No porn, no girls, no yaoi, no fanfiction?
I can't even admit depression.
Perhaps i should add "rainbows out my ass." Is that okay? It's a fucking rainbow. That's happ....er, no, wait, that could be ghey and they hate that too.
I'm surprised that you let this shit surprise you anymore. :/
I decided to view SUP as a fresh start when they took over LiveJournal from 6A. They were a company new to me and I had no idea what direction they would take things. The Basic account thing was stupidly handled, but in the end it was clearly a business restructuring. One I disliked, but didn't really reveal any hidden agenda other than want to make money – and we knew they wanted to make money when they bought LiveJournal. The top interest censorship is very different. While it may effect the use of LiveJournal far less than ending Basic, but it demonstrates another agenda.
Yeah I know. Discrimination against gays/bi's. However, whining about it in IJ won't get it solved. These people should be contacting television shows like Attack of the Show. They've covered Facebook and Myspace stories for less, this should get them a good story. Edited at 2008-03-17 03:15 pm (UTC)
this is the best idea I've heard of yet.
Well I did think of it after all. XD
I suspect that this is at least partially a spam issue. I found that the number of spam comments I got was significantly reduced when I removed bisexuality, sex, women, porn, etc from my interests. Maybe part of blocking a search-by-that-interest involves the removal of these from most-popular-interests?
Or they're evil fuckers, and I'm glad my migration is well underway.
If this has to do with spam, why would they censor the word "faeries"? I doubt it's that much of a spam target.
That I can't answer for you. I would have described that spelling as more fluffy-bunny-pagan than queer (like magick?), but wouldn't it depend on what groups were reporting their spam comments?
I seem to be able to search by every one of those interests. I don't have a basis for how well I know what the raw data is supposed to be representing here. That said, I started an insanejournal anyway awhile back and will continue to update it and my own journal as well.
Those things are still searchable, but they are now censored from the top interest list.
Kind of stupid to have a most popular list that won't get all of what's popular.
My list of interests have not changed, I still have sex listed in there. So I am wondering what does it mean? It can not longer be searched?
Unlike the last interest censorship issue, these interests haven't been rendered unsearchable: they have been censored from the list of most popular interests. While there was some question as to whether or not SUP was actually involved in the last interest censorship issue or if they just inherited it from SixApart, there is no doubt they are the ones at the wheel this time. | |
