I had a different sort of stalker one night while I was homeless in Western Massachusetts. I was walking along route 9 through Hadley around 3:00am. I kept hearing banging sounds behind me. Eventually I made out a distant figure. A black bear was following me. The bear never did get very close to me, but it followed me for several miles. I was not worried, because I knew black bears are normally not aggressive (unless they are defending their young). The bear was just curious about me, and I was curious about the bear. I wasn't brave enough to approach it, but it made my night. One of my happy homeless memories.

Which would you rather see in your weather forecast?

The cats have found a mouse in my room. The mouse escaped when I went to see what they were up to. This is not the best room for a mouse to be in, because both mazzycat and madeleinecat spend most of their time in here.

purpleglitter turned up evidence of mice activity downstairs. Tubes of frosting completely eaten through in a drawer in the pantry. I don't know how many we have, but the one in my room wasn't an adult, meaning it's family must be somewhere. I like mice. I don't mind them in the house. Just gotta keep things out of their reach. Mice are nice, they clean up things and they're cute. I just hope the cats don't eat them. I don't think there's too much of a risk of that. They don't seem like good mousers as the mice seem to have been here for a while.

I caught one of the mice in the kitchen. She surprised purpleglitter. She's so tiny and cute! I'm going to keep her as a pet. I have her in some Tupperware with holes punched in the top. Tomorrow I'm going to petco and getting a cage. I wondered if I should catch her or let her go, but with the cats in the house, I figure it's better to keep her safe. I'm excited. A new pet!
