I'm feeling much better now. Spent some time with [info]purpleglitter. Talked on the phone with [info]quiteodd. Read the incredibly supportive comments about my last post. Ate a few olives. Generally tried to relax and process today's session.

We're going to get a new therapist. I think it is a good idea to continue with therapy, I just don't think continuing with Anne is a good idea. Even if Anne was trying to help with her comment, to end the session by putting me in such an obviously bad state and then saying "Will I see you next week?" with a smirky grin was just bad form. I've lost much of the trust that's been built between us. I get enough shit from the world, I don't need it from our therapist. Tomorrow morning I will begin the search for a new therapist. However, I'm not quite sure where to start looking.

i'm glad you decided to continue therapy, sweet girl :)

NO decent therapist would EVER tell a patient that their meetings were hopeless. your old therapist sounds like she was a bitch.

getting a new therapist will probably help you a lot. sometimes it takes a while before you find a therapist that's right for you.

stay strong, and good luck looking for a good psychiatrist. i have faith in you!

peace and love,
daile xoxo

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Just so you know, I have a psychiatrist and a therapist. I only need a new therapist.

Glad to hear that you're feeling better - I know how it is when those moods overtake you, and what a relief it is when they pass, so yay you :) *sends you hugs from the UK*

As for going to a new therapist, I'd agree that it would be good to search out a new one. I can only vouch for my search in the UK - my clinical psychiatrist (free on the National Health Service) recommended someone, who recommended someone, who recommended someone else. It means spilling your guts to lots of people (I ended up telling my history to some 10-20 counsellors/psychiatrists/psychologists/therapists before finding the right one), but eventually you find someone who just feels "right" for you. So for me, shrink #2 is an advocate of Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (a branch of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and after 3-4 sessions, it's just starting to pay dividends. The only trouble is, I have to pay 70 pounds/hour to see him, and I'm currently out of work, so I've had to stop seeing him until my finances are better again :-/

So, keep at it, love. Sometimes there are issues in one's life that you can work through on your own, or with the help of good friends, but sometimes there are issues where it's better to seek some kind of professional guidance. I hope that the mixture of all of these techniques continues to help you, and for what it's worth, you have my sympathy, respect, and at least some degree of understanding.

Love and strength from an English loony :)
