I had a wonderful Thanksgiving. merryperseis came over to join purpleglitter and I in the livingroom. She had never seen our new place before and she arrived with perfect timing – just 10 minutes before dinner

I cooked portobello and artichoke stuffing, corn on the cob, baked homemade macaroni and cheese, edamame, and a pumpkin and carrot pie that turned out to be more of a pumpkin and carrot pudding — but still quite good, if I do say so myself. We all stuffed ourselves silly and had a good and mellow evening. Good company and too much food is how Thanksgiving is meant to be.

Did slightly better yesterday, but only by chance. Got in 15 minutes of exercise looking for Arlington Town Day, half of my 30 minutes but better than none. Snacking was still a problem. I had two healthy snacks (a strip of granny smith fruit leather and a jonamac apple), one okay snack (a handful of dry Cinnamon Toast Crunch), and one unhealthy snack (a Russell Stoffers caramel crunch candy bar). Mealwise, I had a microwave pizza for breakfast; chole kulcha with naan for lunch; and spaghetti mixed with nutrela, mushrooms, baby corn, broccoli, artichoke hearts, peppers, and other assorted yummies sautéed with olive oil, miso, dill, and seaweed for dinner.

My consistent failure in the snacking and exercise areas are getting a bit embarrassing. I really need to get into gear. I can do this.

I finally found my invisibility glasses. I promised them to a friend, but couldn't find them in the multitude of unpacked boxes. They were stuck in a bag with the blender, which merryperseis needed to make pumpkin pie. My friend will be very happy to finally receive the glasses.

I'm looking forward to this evening's potluck. It's going to be small and cosy. A few really good friends sharing some really good food. I forgot to pick up shiitake mushrooms for the shiitake artichoke stuffing, so I'm going to have to improvise. Luckily, improvisation is my forté.

Last night, purpleglitter and riga_mortia came over for dinner. The power went out shortly before I was to start cooking. dan4th joined the three of us in the candlelit kitchen as I cooked, and ate with us as well. I don't see nearly enough of him. We had mini quiches for an appetizer, and for the main course I made an artichoke pasta salad laced with merlot.

After dinner, purpleglitter, riga_mortia, and I went to riga_mortia's house for drinks and movies. Unfortunately, riga_mortia's roommates were already watching a movie, so instead we went upstairs to riga_mortia's room.

We tried a mixed drink called "hot sex". It was quite good. I am definitely a big fan of hot sex.

We also drank buttershots. Those are yummy. Over the course of several drinking games, the three of us all proceeded to get drunk. As neither purpleglitter and I could drive, we ended up sleeping over. In the morning, purpleglitter gave me a ride home. It's wonderful that we're all getting along now. I'm quite amazed at all of it still.

Thanksgiving dinner went well. Pams and Paonia came over. I want to see more of my new friends. I find I really enjoy talking to them.

Pams and Paonia brought this wonder kugel. I'd never had kugel before, and I thought it was fabulous. They even left me some. Well, there goes my diet for the next day or two. I've really just got to stop worrying about such things.

After dinner we watched Chocolat. Pams and Paonia had never seen it, and I had a feeling they'd like it.

I gave Pams and Paonia some wish pods on their way out. They really liked them.

Oh yeah, my stuffing went over well.
