Woke up about an hour ago, had a bowl of creamy mushroom soup and went outside to start shoveling. The snow had turned to sleet by the time I got out there. A good 5 inches of the mix, mostly loose snow, was on the ground.

I got some pictures of one of the dark-eyed juncos that have been hanging around yesterday, but the sun had went down too far to get good exposures. I'm going to try again Monday. Without my birding camera, I have to be sneaky to get close enough for a good shot. Sneaky in this case means feeding them on fenceless fenceposts near the window.

Braced for the first significant snowstorm of the year. It's already started coming down, not to heavy yet. A quick, but powerful storm — they're predicting 5 to 8 inches (13 to 20cm) of snow in just 6 hours.

Shovel ready, salt laid down. Here we go.

Thunderblizzards are strange things. The mixture of fire and ice creates a beautiful and interesting weather combination. Juxtapositions, when done right, warm the cockles of my heart.

I just shoveled more snow than i ever shoveled before, and it's still coming down. purpleglitter's back door was completely covered with drifts. While it was light snow, it was still a lot of work. A good workout. I needed a workout, as I'm beginning Project Three Meals again today. Now I'm going to relax.

There is an insane amount of snow outside, and soon I must go out and shovel purpleglitter's back steps and porch. Her back steps and porch are a very big job, as she lives up high, and the rickety steps come all the way up. I still love the snow, even if I have to shovel it. So much snow. So much wonderful fluff. Yay!

i decided to call my friend one last time and tell her that i wasn't going. i hope she doesn't go and i'm not there. i don't want to go out in the snow. i doubt she does either, so hopefully she's staying home.

i've been a big grumpy bump today, grumping at people who completely don't deserve it. i feel bad. hopefully i'll calm down with a little herbal medicine in my system.

They let me out today. They gave me the option of staying longer, but said they wouldn't force me to. While the accommodations are swell, I value my freedom. I am a bit worried about the coming snow storm, as I have often fantasized about killing myself during a blizzard and letting the snow gently bury me. I thought about staying through the storm, but decided I'd rather be out and take my chances. I have plenty of supports, I believe I'll be safe as long as I don't let myself be alone.

The storm has started back up again. I just watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer with merryperseis. I'm sitting here with a cup of hot tea.

I'll be on my way back to purpleglitter's apartment soon. Tomorrow will be our 9 year anniversary. December 8^th, 1994, she made faces at me from outside the window of the Haymarket Café in Northampton. I made faces back. Little did we know how much those funny faces would change our lives.

It's snowing again. Only flurries. But, more snow makes more happy!!

The snow has stopped. Outside is a wonderland. Snow makes everything so beautiful. merryperseis is downstairs making cinnamon toast. I'm going to make some tea. Today is going to be a good day.

Just walked home from purpleglitter's. purpleglitter bundled me up very nicely, so I hardly noticed the cold. The snow is beautiful and they say it's supposed to keep coming down until tomorrow afternoon. Woo-hoo! I'm planning on walking back through it tomorrow to return to purpleglitter's. merryperseis is downstairs making me hot chocolate right now.

I slept most of today. I made yummy soup in the morning. Coconut soup with chick peas. There's enough left for merryperseis to have some when she gets home from work.

I'm about to go to Market Basket with purpleglitter to pick up food supplies before the storm hits.
