Turtle In The Road

Date and Time  - May. 31st, 2008, 07:35 pm

Current Mood  - peaceful peaceful
Current Music  - Cindytalk - Through Flowers

Heading home from Trader Joe's, [info]purpleglitter spotted a snapping turtle in the opposite lane, cars zooming around it. She attempted to pull over immediately, however an ambulance behind us boomed its horn when she attempted to slow down and there really wasn't a curb at that point to pull onto. The ambulance had neither its sirens nor its flashing lights on and appeared content to travel along with the normal flow of traffic.

About 150 feet away, there was a good bit of curb and [info]purpleglitter pulled onto it. I ran over to see if the turtle was still okay. I was glad to see that someone had stopped in front of it, blocking traffic in that direction. She had attempted to move the turtle, but it had lunged at her and she backed off. The turtle was quite large and quite angry, it definitely didn't want to be messed with. I stood behind it while the other person stood in front to keep it distracted. I grabbed the turtle by its sides and picked it up. That really pissed it off. It flailed its short legs and lunged its head at me, attempted to reach my hands with its formidable beak.

There was a small lake across the road, which I assume is where it came from as it had clearly recently been in water. I crossed over the guard rail and walked down the incline to the lake. I didn't want to simply set the turtle down, because I was worried it would use the opportunity to exact revenge on me. So, I squatted down by the edge of the lake and gently threw the turtle in. Even though the drop was a short one, I waited to see it swim off before I climbed back to the road.

I had left my purse with person who had blocked traffic, and upon retrieving it I headed back toward [info]purpleglitter's car. [info]purpleglitter was walking towards me already and we met halfway, smiled, and went home.

“Greetings, LiveJournalland. I'm waiting the bus at the Burlington Mall. I met Lake at her work for a late lunch and this is the closest bus stop. So I'm waiting here. It's swell. Not really. Oh, well.

Anyway, I am getting used to being Jesus old. Yes. That's how old I am. My birthday as some of you may know was a few days ago on the 22nd and now I am 33.

And this post, this voice post that is, is rather boring compared to most of my voice posts. But, I guess ya'all will just deal. It does have a recursive element to it, though, as I'm talking about the voice post in the post. Self referential. Whatever. That's not very interesting either.

Oh, well. Lots of people walking in and out, as this is the mall entrance. I guess I should cut this voice post short, or cut it long because it's really gone on longer than it should have and if you are still listening I feel sorry for you.

Are you still listening

*laughs*

Okay.

Well, Goodbye.”

Berv Love Lake

Current Mood  - happy happy
Current Music  - budgies in conference in next room

Yesterday was wonderful. I couldn't wait until evening, so I took the bus out to Burlington to meet up with [info]purpleglitter for lunch during her break. If it weren't for the infrequentness of the buses, I would meet her for lunch more regularly.

When she arrived home after work, [info]purpleglitter brought me a dozen roses, one for each year we've been together. She took me out to Vinny T's for dinner, which was the perfect choice. Back at her house, we had champagne and chatted away the night. We had planned to watch Tipping the Velvet, but never got around to playing the movie.

Quiet, romantic, happy. I couldn't have asked for a better anniversary.

“*excitedly* Good afternoon, Livejournal Land! Assuming good luck and no delays, this time tomorrow I'll be flying! Flying, not quite like a bird, but flying nonetheless - in an airplane! I'll be spending Thanksgiving in Arlington, not the Arlington I live in, but a different Arlington - Arlington, Virginia! I'll be spending Thanksgiving with my niece, and my sister! And my brother-in-law! And I'll be eating lots of cheese! Mmmmm... cheese! Anyway, I'm just getting back, I'm waiting for the bus, in fact, in Burlington. I just saw Lake, we had lunch together. I've been doing that a couple times, lately, it's good! I can come down here, it's not a bad bus. It's a bad bus ride home, because I can't plan it as well. But the bus there, easy to plan, easy to catch it. It's only an hourly bus, so, without catching it right, it's a good long wait. But, that's what I'm doing, and I'm voice-posting... while I do it! Check out that pause! It wasn't verbal! Anyway, I'll be talking later. Bye!”

Lahey Runaround

Date and Time  - Sep. 7th, 2001, 03:34 pm

Current Mood  - hopeful hopeful
Current Music  - Danielle Dax - Cathouse

I called the Lahey clinic in Arlington and they told me I need to call the clinic in Burlington for psychiatric care. They were nice enough to give me the number

I called the main number for the clinic in Burlington, waited on hold for 5 minutes, then was told I needed to call the front desk of the psychiatric department.

I called the psychiatric front desk and was told I needed to call the psychiatric scheduling desk.

I called the scheduling desk and was told I couldn't get an appointment without getting a Lahey number and transferring to a primary care physician at Lahey. I needed to call the main number to do that.

I called the main number and changed my primary care physician and got a Lahey number.

I called the scheduling desk back, but the person was not there. I left a voice mail and am waiting for them to get back to me to schedule an appointment.

Although I got the run around for quite sometime, I feel that in the last few days I've made a lot of progress on achieving a more sustainable existence.
