Kickass Cupcakes

Date and Time  - Dec. 9th, 2007, 03:07 pm

Current Mood  - awake awake
Current Music  - lake humming somewhere over the rainbow

[info]purpleglitter and I went to Kickass Cupcakes in Davis Square on our way to Haveli (in Inman Square) last night. [info]purpleglitter had a lucky cupcake (a cupcake with a fortune) and I had a very rummy mojito. All I can say is: delicious! Paddington gobbled up the catnip and cheese cupcake we got for her when we got home — and promptly passed out in a drugged haze. She hopes to find more of those magic cupcakes lying about.

Paddington's cupcake even had an unsearchable goldfish cracker on top of hers.

Project Three Meals - Attempt 13, Day 2

Date and Time  - Jul. 9th, 2006, 12:02 am

Current Mood  - sleepy sleepy
Current Music  - air conditioner

For breakfast I had faux duck ramen, for lunch I had mac and cheese with black beans, for dinner I had tomatoe soup with mozzarella cheese, and for my healthy snack I had wasabi peas.

I got in more than enough exercise in a long walk that took me down Mass Ave to a tree-lined trail along the sludge river, then over Clarendon Hill, through Teele Square, and finally to Davis where I got a french soda at the Diesel Café.

Success again. Perhaps this is lucky 13.

Date and Time  - Jun. 22nd, 2006, 10:00 am

Current Mood  - okay okay
Current Music  - fan

I did it! For breakfast yesterday I had spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli in tomatoe sauce with mushrooms and parmesan, for lunch I had spaghetti o's, for dinner I had mac and cheese, and for my healthy snack I had a pickle. I got in my exercise by walking to Davis Square. Finally. Now to see if I can repeat yesterday.

Wonderful day

Date and Time  - Jun. 21st, 2006, 08:52 pm

Current Mood  - happy happy
Current Music  - budgies in conference

Today was beautiful and I spent a good deal of time outside, both in Davis Square and by Spy Pond. The sky was bright, the weather was mild, and the water was sparkling in Sol's brilliance. I don't think I could have asked for more perfect solstice weather.

End of Cane

Date and Time  - Jan. 17th, 2006, 12:31 pm

Current Mood  - melancholy melancholy
Current Music  - budgies gurgling

I went to meet [info]scattermew at the Diesel yesterday. I got there on time, sitting along the wall towards the back. I waited for about an hour occasionally looking for her. I never saw her. Once I arrived home, I called her and asked her what happened. Apparently she was only a couple seats down from me, arriving just shortly after I did, but I never saw her. That's understandable, because while I was fine when i arrived at the diesel, I became progressively more out of it as I sat there. My looking around for her was not done efficiently because I didn't have the focus (visually or mentally) to do an efficient scan.

On my way home my cane broke in two. I knew it was going to happen soon, but it still made me much sad. I am now using the cane I'm making from the windfall branch I found by Spy Pond. I am far from done working on it, but it is all I have for now, so even in it's transitional state it will have to do. I will continue to work on it and hopefully finish the job in the near future.

These things happen, but it disheartens me because I only have a limited amount of funds and physical stamina to go out and meet people, and while I like being social I'm beginning to think that at this point it may be more trouble than it's worth.

Evening Places

Date and Time  - Dec. 18th, 2005, 07:27 pm

Current Mood  - happy happy
Current Music  - squeaky chirping

Over the last several days, I've been going out more than I have in quite a while.

Wednesday night, [info]zarthon took [info]purpleglitter and I out to Uno's to celebrate [info]purpleglitter's fabulous new job. [info]zarthon accidentally spilt my entire Second City Whisky Sour on me as soon as it arrived, and I smelt completely like a brewery. I used the foamy handsoap in the Uno's bathroom to wash the aromatic drink off my clothing. The rest of the dinner went wonderfully and their new olde fashion tomatoe soup was quite lovely.

Thursday night, [info]purpleglitter and I went over to [info]iamacliche's and [info]recoiling's apartment for a small holiday gathering. I always love hanging out with them and it is convenient that they live so close. They gave me, among other things, a turtle coprolite and a polished fiber optic piece of ulexite. I went through a phase in the early nineties that I was very into geology and rocks and minerals. I lost my entire rock and mineral collection when I was homeless, and am glad to add some nice new specimens to my very small current collection.

Friday night, I met [info]dicotomygrrl at the Diesel Café. We shared a chocolate mint square and played a game of chess. I still remember [info]dicotomygrrl's speech about chess at my birthday party last year, which was the last big party that has happened at the [info]house_of_clocks. She gave me a rose, which I was hoping to put in some water when I got home, but unfortunately left in the back of Glen's van.

Last night, I went to [info]sophiaserpentia's birthday gathering. Early on in the evening I committed a minor faux pas. I'm not sure if anyone noticed and if they did I don't know if they cared. However, I felt really bad about it. It took me a little bit to get past my embarrassment and guilt to get back into the feeling of the gathering, but once I did I had a swell time. I got to hang out with friends as well as meet a handful of new and interesting people (all on LiveJournal), including [info]galaxygrrl, who has been on my friends list for some time but never have met in real life.

That's a whole lot of social activities in a short number of days for me. I'm used to sitting at home the majority of my evenings. I like getting out and if I can get my neurological problems taken care of and find a way to bring in a small amount of extra cash, I would like to make a regular habit of it.

Candles

Date and Time  - Sep. 4th, 2005, 08:51 pm

Current Mood  - somber somber
Current Music  - budgies singing

I just got back from [info]davis_square. [info]purpleglitter drove me there so I could light several candles in memorial of the dead and in hope for the struggling survivors of Katrina. I wouldn't feel right buying new candles to put up, as any money I would spend on them would be better sent to the relief effort, so I used ones I had lying around the [info]house_of_clocks plus one donated by [info]merryperseis. I lit them on the concrete pillars on the side of the road by the park in the square. I wanted to put them in a prominent place, but the best location (the compass needle) was already dedicated to 9/11 with a large memorial plaque. I know someone else had already noted the pillars as a good place to light a candle as there was already fresh wax on one of them (although the candle was gone). I know what I did really doesn't help much, but it felt like the right thing to do.

Missing Rob

Date and Time  - Jan. 25th, 2005, 08:59 pm

Current Mood  - high high
Current Music  - silence

i dealt with rob's ([info]mutehalo) death mostly by dissociation. it never seemed real. It still doesn't. It feels like part of a dream and he's going to meet me at the diesel and we're going to walk to my house. on the way he'll give me a cigarette, the only time i really smoked tobacco. we'd get stoned and make out. it was an almost weekly ritual. i miss him. fuck.

Maybe Meet

Date and Time  - Jan. 22nd, 2005, 02:44 pm

Current Mood  - mellow mellow
Current Music  - Enya - Silent Night

i'm going to the diesel in a hour or so to meet someone i don't know if is going to be there due to a communications mix-up. if she does show up, i don't want to stand her up. but it's my fault for miscommunication if she doesn't show up, so i'll have nothing to complain about, but will have wasted my time and bus fare. i'd walk, but it's too cold outside. i know i need to get in some walking today, so maybe i'll do it anyway. brrrr. i made it to alewife the other day, surely i can make it to davis. i'll decide when i get outside.

Morning Ramblings

Date and Time  - Oct. 9th, 2004, 06:06 am

Current Mood  - mellow mellow
Current Music  - silence

i've been up for about an hour and a half
early to bed, early to rise
i usually take two or three naps during the day
my meds make me tired
so i sleep more than i used to
i don't know about my sleep schedule
part of me likes being up so early in the morning
but another side of me likes being up late at night
unfortunately, unless one stays up all night, it's hard to have both

in 8 days i'll be boarding a plane for missouri
that's a day i'll have to be up in the morning
i need to get a new id before that
mine has expired
i'm worried about getting shit about that at the airport

i want to write at least one poem today
i haven't been writing near enough poetry lately
just haven't been too inspired
i need to go sit somewhere and just look and feel and write
they're doing work on the grounds around spy pond, so that isn't a good place to go right now
maybe i could head to the great meadow or mount auburn
or go people watching in harvard square or davis square
i've become too addicted to cut-ups as a creative inspiration
i need to branch out

Friday Night Date

Date and Time  - Oct. 1st, 2004, 11:56 pm

Current Mood  - happy happy
Current Music  - silence

Met lady_babalon at the Diesel for what turned out to be a date and a cuddly evening. We walked from [info]davis_square to the [info]house_of_clocks, picking up alcohol and pizza on the way. We talked and talked and she brushed my hair. She's has the gentlest hand at brushing hair. Usually I can't stand to have my hair brushed by someone else, but with her it was wonderful. I hope we can get together for another date sometime. I will see her tomorrow at the chocolate party, which sounds like big fun.

Riding Around

Date and Time  - Aug. 9th, 2004, 09:00 am

Current Mood  - happy happy
Current Music  - fans

Been riding my bike back and forth from [info]purpleglitter's apartment several times a day. In a few minutes I'm going to take it to the post office to mail the overdue gas bill. I still need to get a lock for it so I can ride it to Davis Square. I also would like to get a light and some baskets, but those are less important. I love my bike.

Comings and Goings

Date and Time  - Apr. 30th, 2004, 02:19 pm

Current Mood  - hot hot
Current Music  - traffic

Met [info]dan4th at the Someday Café yesterday. It was very hot inside, so we crossed took our drinks to the benches across the street. There we sat, chatted, and dodged the sun. We then took a nice walk. I walked to and from Davis Square. Quite a walk from my house, but nothing compared how much walking I did when I was homeless.

After spending time with [info]dan4th I went over to [info]purpleglitter's apartment. I try to spend every other night at her place. Sometimes it's a little less often than that due to scheduling issues. In the summer it may be more often than that, as [info]purpleglitter has a functioning air conditioner, and I don't.

Errands

Date and Time  - Sep. 13th, 2003, 06:34 pm

Current Mood  - mellow mellow
Current Music  - Kate Bush - The Kick Inside

Went to the Goodwill in [info]davis_square. The second time we went there this week, but [info]purpleglitter needed items from the downstairs which is closed on Thursdays. [info]purpleglitter picked up several baskets and a little wood wagon for her apartment. Then across the street to the Family Dollar, where [info]purpleglitter picked up a nice lamp and shade.

[info]purpleglitter decided to go to Pep Boys to get her oil changed on Monday or Tuesday rather than today, figuring there would be more of a wait on the weekend.

Upon returning to Arlington, [info]purpleglitter treated me to some samosa chole chat at Punjab. Yummie.

Next to Walgreens, where I picked up lightbulbs (both in my room were out), hydrocortisone, and a refill on my spironolactone.

Finds and Discoveries

Date and Time  - Nov. 29th, 2002, 06:12 pm

Current Mood  - cheerful cheerful
Current Music  - Pet Shop Boys - Shopping

Until today, we didn't know how to turn on the chandelier in the playroom. We thought it must be broken. However, today, [info]purpleglitter noticed a small knob on the side of the chandelier. No one had noticed it before. I turned it, and it fell off. Fell right into a glass of cider. And since the knob is solid brass, it made quite a splash. I put it back on and turned it the other way. The chandelier came to life.

I received two letters from [info]vagrant in my post office box. I'm very excited to hear from her, and I hope she gets out of that place soon. It doesn't seem like she will, but I can still hope for her. I plan to send off a letter to her Monday.

I should have received her letters several weeks ago, but I haven't been checking my post office box very frequently. I should direct people send mail to my home address from now on. The post office box served a purpose before we moved. The mailbox at the old place wasn't very secure, and we had numerous instances of disappearing mail. However, here at the new [info]house_of_clocks, that isn't an issue.

-----

After dropping off Mitzi in Davis Square, [info]purpleglitter and I went to the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Winter Hill. I picked up several exciting new outfits. Everything I bought was half off! The most expensive article of clothing cost me only $2!! It was a very happy shopping experience.
