I've had several people complain about my appearance, saying something must be done. I look to ratty, my clothes are often tattered. I should die my hair or at least brush it more often. Wear lipstick. Do something.

However, I like how I look. I feel comfortable in my own skin. I've stopped trying to fit into a mold or a subculture. I'm exploring my own ground. And while I may get a little down about my weight now and again, I'm finding peace there too. I don't want to go back to being the bulimic stick I was years ago. I might be "overweight", but I'm pretty healthy (well, except for the falling down/seizure/twitchy/dizzy/whatever the hell they are spells).

I don't mind that people think I look like some "crazy woman". I am a crazy woman. I embrace that. It took me a long time to be comfortable in my skin. To be comfortable being what I am. I have come to realize of late that beauty is not about who or what you are, it is about not fighting who or what you are. I'm letting myself be me, and I like it.

I am not saying that there isn't room for improvement or bettering. While I have come far, I have a long way to go still. But as I move ahead I want to add more than replace. I no longer don't want to be me, and those who want me different will have to get used to that.

I just got back from having my hair cut and dyed at Judy Jetson's Hair Salon with on of the gift certificates zarthon got me for my birthday. I didn't get bright purple as I had planned, and instead went for more of an eggplant. Here are some photos of my new hair that purpleglitter took.

I'm going to be using the gift certificates zarthon got me for my birthday soon. I'm getting my hair cut and dyed bright purple. It's still going to be long, just not as long. And it's going to look fabulous. I need to take some pictures of my hair how it is now. I'm very nervous about this. I haven't had my hair cut since I was 16 (that's 14 years). But, I'm going to do it.

My hair looks wonderful. I'm very thankful to purpleglitter for walking me through the process of dying my hair myself. She has infinite patience. I wish I could say the same about me. I grump at her far to often, and she doesn't deserve to be grumped at. She is wonderful and I'm going to make a very large effort at grumping considerably less at her.

I'm dying my hair myself for the first time. In the past, someone's always dyed it for me. As I sit here, I look as if I've just left the scene of a murder. I'm wearing a johnny covered in blood red dye. I hope this turns out well.

Bebe is driving me up the wall! I just went to grab some orange juice, which I just bought, and there is only a little bit left. If she wants our orange juice, she can have it! I mixed what was left of the orange juice with vinegar, lemon flavoring, and food dye to bring back the color to normal. It smells just like orange juice due to the mix of vinegar and lemon flavoring. I can't wait until she mixes herself a nice screwdriver.
