| Email Problems | ||
I don't think my email will ever consistantly work again.

| Suspended Over Tags | ||
My account was suspended without warning because I had too many tags. I was told that I needed to bring the number of tags I had under 1000. I've deleted over half my tags and at this point and hope that is enough that I won't be resuspended. (They didn't directly unsuspended me – instead they responded with a link that would unsuspended my account, which I was to press after I'd "fixed" my tags.) I was given no warning that my account was going to be suspended. I was never informed that there was a limit on how many tags I could have. I wasn't even sent an email telling me why my account was suspended so that I could correct the problem in a timely manner. I only found out when I tried to view my friends page. To their credit, I was given a $15 gift certificate for LiveJournal services. The gift certificate is a nice gesture, but it has limited use to me as i have a permanent account and the secret tag limit issue is still a problem. I will be taking a break from LiveJournal. I waste too much time here anyway. I don't know whether or not I'll be back. I leave that open at this point, but I have many other options — from hosting my own journal to starting up with another service to leaving blogging entirely. The future will hold what the future holds. Good bye for now.

| Covering Eyes | ||
Following the leak of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I'm going to start my off-line time today. I have a lot to do in preparing for I should note that while I won't be reading anything from online for the next few days (email, comments (due to possible trolls), wikipedia, or my friends list), I may still post using Semagic does not risk seeing spoilers. I guess "very limited internet use" is more accurate than "off-line".

| I Found My Teeth | ||
Going through my one of my cavernous closets, I found my wisdom teeth I had taken out in the late 1990's. They look a bit old, and the crusted blood has turned to a greyish powder. I had my wisdom teeth out the same time I found many other things as well. An old valentine from

| Email Running Again | ||
If you attempted to email me at my neitherday.com address today, my email was down for approximately 10 hours and there is a reasonable chance I did not receive it, although I am receiving some (but not most) of my missed mail now that my email is working properly again. Thank you,

| The Secrets in the Spam | ||
Sometimes I receive spam messages that aren't really advertising anything. Many other people I know receive these as well. Sometimes there is very little content, sometimes there is a large block of random characters. These messages contain nothing executable, so I've never been worried about them and had just assumed they were spammers testing out their software. However, the messages appear to consistently to be chalked up to testing, they must serve a purpose. One plausible explanation is that at least some of them are encrypted messages. If you assume there is a good chance your message will be intercepted but want to protect the identity of the intended recipient, what better way to do that then to send out millions of copies of the message. There would be absolutely no way to know which of the millions of recipients was actually the intended.

| Lost Emails | ||
Due to certain computer issues, I have lost an unknown number of emails over the past 2 days. While I believe that most of my email has gotten through, if you send me an email either yesterday or today there is a reasonable chance that I did not see it.

| MySpace Spam | ||
I don't really use my MySpace account, but I seem to get plenty of spam there. Livejournal does a very good job at policing spam, it is very rare that I get any spam comments here. I used to run a couple communities that were prone to spam, but moderating membership pretty much ended that. But, on MySpace simply having a profile seems enough to get spammed on a regular basis. What is more, you have to go to the site and log in to even see the spam. MySpace will not email the text of the messages to you. I've gone ahead an disabled emails from MySpace, and therefore will not see any actual comments or people attempting to add me until I deign to go to the site and check.

| Finalish Session | ||
I wrote my therapist back, and now I have an appointment at 4:00 Monday afternoon. Her emails imply (but do not implicitly state) that she does not believe it is a good idea for me to quit therapy, but I already knew that. However, her emails also it clear that she will not employ pressure tactics to get me to stay, which from our relationship in the past I already knew as well. I may be a bit nervous about going, but I believe it will be for the best however it turns out.
| ||
| Last Session | ||
My therapist sent me an email asking if we can meet one last time to discuss my leaving. She says that it would be better than ending by voice mail and email. I would tend to agree with this. However, I've gone for "last meetings" with her before, and I'm either convinced to keep going or end up feeling guilty for leaving therapy. I know the guilt part is silly, and it is my own fault and not something my therapist is trying to lay on me. Essentially, I'm worried that if I go I will not be as resolute in my decision to stop but on the other hand a "last session" would bring a nice closure to the long experience. I also feel I do owe her a proper goodbye, probably because I really do. Poll #730694 Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All Should I schedule a "last session" with my therapist?
View Answers No, if you are done with therapy there is no point in going back. Yes, and stay resolute in your decision. Yes, but keep an open mind about continuing therapy No, you should schedule a regular session and continue with therapy.

| Just Say No to DOPA | ||
DOPA, or the "Deleting Online Predators Act" is one of the more horrifying and dangerous pieces of legislation in a long time. It would force libraries and schools to block access to "commercial Web sites that let users create web pages or profiles or offer communication with other users via forums, chat rooms, e-mail or instant messenging." Essentially, DOPA would permit nothing that allows the user to publish or broadcast their views or tell stories. This bill does not target online predators, instead it censors those who are most likely to have negative views of the government. This bill would effectively silence large groups of disadvantaged children and adults whose only access to such online forums are schools and libraries. The internet, especially blogging sites, threaten to break Marx's observation that "freedom of the press belongs to those who own one". The old monopoly on the press is being widdled away as more and more people are able to tell their stories. Those in power, while not acknowledging Marx's observation, have understood it to be true and have understood that it benefits them. However, both Marx and the power brokers in Washington share the belief that information should be controlled. The only real difference between them was how this control is best administered. The internet offers a new world where information is controlled by no one. Where all are free to talk and tell our stories. We are still far from that world, but it is within our grasp. The future is closer than we think, and what we do now will dramatically change what that future will be. We need to expand the press to everyone, not limit it to the few.

| Comment Emails Still an Issue | ||
Will LiveJournal ever get the comment emails working reliably again? Sure, there have been occasional problems in the past, but they were usually rectified in a day or two. The comment emails haven't been working reliably for about a month now. What gives?

| Spamincarnation | |||
From a spam message I just received:
Wow! A degree based on what I did in my past lives. That sounds quite open minded, however I wonder how they go about the verification process.

| Bad LiveJournal | ||
I thought they were going to have this thing fixed by now, but LiveJournal is still eating well over half of my comment emails. It's not that big of a deal in my own journal, because I can check for comments on the recent comments page or in the portal. However, comments I get to my posts in communities as well as replies to comments I make in other journals do not show up there. It's very strong annoying.

| Lost Time | ||
I missed my therapy appointment. I know for a fact that I left the house at 10:30am. I checked the time on my last received email (which I got just before I left) to confirm this. However, I arrived at my destination at a little after noon. This is odd, because I mad very good time and should have arrived at 11:15 at the latest. Somewhere along the way I lost around an hour. Maybe a little less. This is odd, because I've been doing so well lately. I usually lose time when I'm doing badly. It makes me wonder how much time I've been losing exactly. I wouldn't have noticed it at all if it weren't for me missing my appointment, my therapist had already assumed I missed my appointment and left.
