I don't want to leave LiveJournal. I know I said goodbye –; but it is the community that keeps me here, not Six Apart. There isn't anywhere else I feel like setting up shop. Everyplace has its own problems; some, such as on facebook, are much worse than anything here. and hosting my own blog would mean giving up on the community aspect entirely. So, I've changed my mind, I've decided to stay — for now. I just wish that brad never sold out.

My account was suspended without warning because I had too many tags. I was told that I needed to bring the number of tags I had under 1000. I've deleted over half my tags and at this point and hope that is enough that I won't be resuspended. (They didn't directly unsuspended me – instead they responded with a link that would unsuspended my account, which I was to press after I'd "fixed" my tags.)

I was given no warning that my account was going to be suspended. I was never informed that there was a limit on how many tags I could have. I wasn't even sent an email telling me why my account was suspended so that I could correct the problem in a timely manner. I only found out when I tried to view my friends page.

To their credit, I was given a $15 gift certificate for LiveJournal services. The gift certificate is a nice gesture, but it has limited use to me as i have a permanent account and the secret tag limit issue is still a problem.

I will be taking a break from LiveJournal. I waste too much time here anyway. I don't know whether or not I'll be back. I leave that open at this point, but I have many other options — from hosting my own journal to starting up with another service to leaving blogging entirely. The future will hold what the future holds.

Following the leak of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I'm going to start my off-line time today. I have a lot to do in preparing for invalid_userid's visit anyway, so I shouldn't be spending much time online anyway.

I should note that while I won't be reading anything from online for the next few days (email, comments (due to possible trolls), wikipedia, or my friends list), I may still post using Semagic does not risk seeing spoilers. I guess "very limited internet use" is more accurate than "off-line".

I doubt my therapist would be amenable to getting a livejournal herself. However, I would like her to have access to some of my locked posts without granting carte blanche access to my journal. Therefore, I have created an account called taccess that I can log into while in session with her. This solves the problem because taccess is my account, I am simply giving her temporary access to it.

I don't really use my MySpace account, but I seem to get plenty of spam there. Livejournal does a very good job at policing spam, it is very rare that I get any spam comments here. I used to run a couple communities that were prone to spam, but moderating membership pretty much ended that. But, on MySpace simply having a profile seems enough to get spammed on a regular basis. What is more, you have to go to the site and log in to even see the spam. MySpace will not email the text of the messages to you. I've gone ahead an disabled emails from MySpace, and therefore will not see any actual comments or people attempting to add me until I deign to go to the site and check.

Tables are dangerous things.

Sorry if I messed up your friends page last night, it's fixed now.

Only some of you would have been effected, because many styles (such as mine) are resilient to the type of error I had in my table.

I should test my tables on a less error-resilient layout in the future.

Balancing 30 filters can lead to errors. While the most recent error was far from disastrous, I do need to keep closer tabs on who has access to which entries.

I've set up the rough draft filter and added some of my older rough drafts to the filter. If you aren't on yet and it interests you, comment here and I'll add you to it.

Due to the filtering friends page confusion, I have finally given in and added myself as a friend. Sometimes I want to see how my posts show up on friends pages, and I've usually gone to one of my friends journals to check that. But, I can no longer do that, so now I'm my own friend.

My filtered posts are no longer showing up when I look at the friends pages of my friends when I'm logged in as me. I was confused and deleted one of the posts and reposted it trying to get it to work before I figured out that the LiveJournal crew decided to change the way things work without telling anyone. Sure, the new system may be less confusing to new people, but people who are used to it working the old way find it confusing when things are changed with no notice.

I've been making many private posts of late. These posts are intended to be temporary. They are essentially rough drafts for public posts that have been percolating in my mind. The private posts allow me to work on the writing wherever I am. I could email myself the rough drafts instead; but, if I'm working on LiveJournal, I might as well have what I'm working on saved on LiveJournal and not have to wade into the depths of my inbox.

Sometimes the process takes weeks or month, sometimes only days, and sometime I never end up posting the writing. Sometimes one post is broken into two, and sometimes two are combined into one. Sometimes something will sit for a long time and suddenly bloom. It is a fluid process, the process of hatching a writing.

Many of my posts are still "of the moment", sometimes I feel that something is ready to go on the first revision. Sometimes "of the moment" is more important than polished. But I do want to work on making more polished posts.

I will still run much of my posts by a couple people close to me, but they are not always available. Furthermore, sometimes I just like to sit and think about a post for a period of time before deciding whether to make it public or delete it.

I'm offering to add to my "rough draft" group anyone who wishes to see these formerly private posts. If you wish to be included, you should reply to this post. You don't have to want to help proofread to be on the filter. Voyeurism into my creative process is also an acceptable reason to request to be added.

Three things to keep in mind if you wish to be included: 1) You will often see the same post in multiple revisions. 2) Do not take too seriously what is posted on the filter, because much of it is part of my thinking process and not what I actually believe 3) Due to the nature of the filter, it will be common for entries on the filter to be deleted.

I'll probably set the filter up sometime tomorrow or Thursday.
