Taro Fries

Date and Time  - Nov. 14th, 2007, 12:23 pm

Current Mood  - nostalgic nostalgic
Current Music  - budgies in conference

I made taro fries last night and they were good. Simple to make: just cut up a taro root; toss with olive oil, garlic powder, and pepper; place on a cookie sheet; and throw in the oven at 450°F (230°C, 510 K) until crisp.

I haven't made them since I moved out of the [info]house_of_clocks, mostly because I don't make it down to the Super 88 very often since I moved here. That probably won't change, as I cook mainly for [info]purpleglitter now and she doesn't like the food from the Super 88 except Pocky, taro and a very few other items. We only ended up getting the taro because we went with [info]invalid_userid to pick up food for her stay.

Project Three Meals - Attempt 17, Day 2

Date and Time  - Nov. 1st, 2007, 04:06 am

Current Mood  - tired tired
Current Music  - air purifier

For breakfast I had angel hair pasta in a garlic butter sauce; for lunch I had mutter paneer on rice; for dinner I had pizza, and for my healthy snack I had three mandarins. However, I didn't get any exercise and ate quite a bit of the left over Halloween candy. We only got two groups of trick or treaters, so there was a lot left over. Tomorrow is another day, perhaps the day I make this attempt work.

Homemade Spaghetti O's

Date and Time  - Aug. 21st, 2007, 09:11 pm

Current Mood  - mellow mellow

Tonight, not knowing what to cook that [info]purpleglitter would also like, I looked at the available ingredients and decided to attempt to make Spaghetti O's from scratch. I took a can of puréed tomatoes, some oregano, some garlic, some Mrs. Dash, some pepper, and for smoothness of flavour – smart balance spread. Dropped in mozzarella cheese and a few slices of american. Of course, the bag of ring pasta in the cupboard came in handy. It turned out quite good and more american cheese gave it a more Spaghetti O's flavor.

Project Five - Attempt 2, Day 7

Date and Time  - Feb. 16th, 2007, 10:08 am

Current Mood  - awake awake
Current Music  - silence

Yesterday, as predicted, didn't work out for Project Five. For breakfast I had pizza; for lunch I had rotini and faux italian sausage in a jalapeño jack sauce; for dinner I had spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with portobello mushrooms and parmesan cheese; for my first healthy snack I had a clementine; for my second healthy snack I had tortillas with spinach and garlic hummus.

I also had a hand full of walnuts and the rest of the Godiva chocolate. Several people have argued that Godiva chocolate is a healthy snack. I'm still not ready to put it in that category – regardless, both the nuts and the Godiva were beyond the two healthy snack quota and would therefore be outside the Project Five plan whether or not the Godiva is healthy.

I didn't get my exercise in either. I need to find a good indoor exercise regimen that I can and will do.

Project Five - Attempt 2, Day 2

Date and Time  - Feb. 11th, 2007, 08:53 am

Current Mood  - groggy groggy
Current Music  - budgies not sleeping

Yesterday didn't work at all for Project Five. For breakfast I had spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with mushrooms, peppers, and parmesan cheese; for lunch I had vegetable and paneer pakoras followed by shahi paneer korma with rice and naan, for a healthy snack I had tortillas with spinach and garlic hummus.

I did no real exercise and only ate 2 meals and 1 snack as opposed to 3 meals and 2 snacks. So, no dice on day 2.

Project Tree Meals - Attempt 15, Day 1

Date and Time  - Aug. 20th, 2006, 10:49 am

Current Mood  - mellow mellow
Current Music  - goldmourn voice post

For breakfast I had spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with peppers and parmesan cheese, for lunch I had paneer butter masala with rice, for dinner I had two slices of faux chipotle sausage pizza with basil mozzarella baked on a garlic and herb crust, and for my healthy snack I had pumpkin seeds.

I was sitting on my desk, spaced out, and before I could realizes what I was doing I had eaten a significant number of peanut chews. Having already foiled my day, I opted to have cookies later on when offered and I didn't get any exercise.

I know the reasoning "I already screwed up, what the hell?" isn't the best and that I should strive to get as close as I can regardless of how well the rest of the day went. But I had already screwed up, so what the hell. Great "logic', eh? I'll do better and I intend to win the wager.

Project Three Meals - Attempt 13, Day 4

Date and Time  - Jul. 11th, 2006, 10:07 am

Current Mood  - mellow mellow
Current Music  - fan

For breakfast yesterday I had spaghetti in garlic and olive oil, for lunch I had Spanish rice with faux pork, for my healthy snack I had a pickle. [info]zarthon took [info]purpleglitter and me out to Vinny T's in Lexington for dinner, where we got fried ravioli as our appetizer and I had eggplant parmesan with spaghetti for my entrée.

I got my exercise in the morning in the form of a walk. I really getting into the morning walk thing, it's nice to get out and about before the heat of the day sets in.

Project Three Meals - Attempt 12, Day 5

Date and Time  - Jun. 16th, 2006, 10:09 am

Current Mood  - mellow mellow
Current Music  - fan

For breakfast yesterday I had pizza, for lunch I had eggplant marinated in olive oil and garlic sautéed with faux abalone in a sandwich, for dinner I had kabuli chana with rice, for my healthy snack I had a pickle. I got in only 20 of my 30 minutes of exercise and ate almost half a bag of tings and some gelatin-free gummy bears, meaning still no successful Project Three Meals days. Even though I haven't actually accomplished the goal any day, I have cut down on my junk food and snacking and am getting more exercise, so I'm moving in the right direction even if I'm not there yet and that has always been the point of Project Three Meals.

Project Three Meals - Attempt 9, Day 1

Date and Time  - Mar. 19th, 2006, 09:36 am

Current Mood  - groggy groggy
Current Music  - budgies gurgling

Yesterday, I ate spaghetti o's with a slice of american cheese for breakfast, 2 veggie burgers for lunch, shells in garlicy parmesan & romano sauce for dinner, and a mango as my healthy snack. I however had a small amount of chips and salsa and didn't get any exercise, so didn't quite make it. While Project Three Meals isn't about 100% success, I can do better and will try to do better today.

Need coffee now.

Project Three Meals - Attempt 6, Day 12

Date and Time  - Sep. 22nd, 2005, 09:56 am

Current Mood  - groggy groggy
Current Music  - traffic

Didn't do as well yesterday. Only a small amount of exercise, nowhere near my 30 minute goal. As far as food goes, I had an egg and cheese everything bagel for breakfast, spaghetti o's for lunch, and paneer vindaloo with rice and garlic naan plus some pakoras for dinner. However, I didn't eat a healthy snack. Not eating when I should is just as much a deviation from Project Three Meals as eating something I when I shouldn't. Trying gets me a better handle on my food intake and makes me pay more attention to what I eat, even if I don't alway succeed in my goals.

Project Three Meals - Attempt 6, Day 6

Date and Time  - Sep. 16th, 2005, 12:24 pm

Current Mood  - mellow mellow
Current Music  - birds gone wild

No exercise again yesterday. Need to work on working out. Did well on meals though, for breakfast I had garlic parmesan penne, for lunch vegetarian corn dogs, and for dinner butternut squash soup with pane rustico. Didn't do as well with snacks though. All healthy, but too many: string cheese, olives, tangerines, and crackers. Need to get a handle on the snacking.

Project Three Meals: Attempt 3, Day 3

Date and Time  - Jan. 13th, 2005, 09:22 pm

Current Mood  - sleepy sleepy
Current Music  - traffic

I didn't do so well on the eating front today. I had two orders of hash browns for breakfast at South Station, not a reasonable meal. I also had two snacks, the first one was good: half an orange and half a box of raisins. The second wasn't quiet as good: a bunch of olives. My other meals were reasonable: stroganoff for lunch and macaroni with garlic and mushrooms for dinner. I did get in more exercise than yesterday: 20 minutes. Not a bad day, but not a good one either.
