jerboa

An "extraordinary" desert creature has been caught on camera for what scientists believe is the first time.

The long-eared jerboa, a tiny nocturnal mammal that is dwarfed by its enormous ears, can be found in deserts in Mongolia and China.

Zoological Society of London (ZSL) scientist Jonathan Baillie said the footage was helping researchers to learn more about the mysterious animal.

The species is classified as endangered on the IUCN Red list

Death in London

Date and Time  - Jul. 23rd, 2005, 07:22 pm

Current Mood  - cynical cynical
Current Music  - fan

London police now shoot and kill people who come out of the wrong houses and look like foreigners. Apparently if a bombing doesn't succeed in killing anyone, the police will take up the slack.

Here in the United States, the cops have focused on shooting unarmed black men. Maybe foreigners boarding public transit here will soon be getting the same treatment.

If you are dealing with someone who might be a suicide bomber, if they remain conscious, they could trigger plastic explosives or whatever device is on them. Therefore, overwhelmingly in these circumstances, it is going to be a shoot-to-kill policy.
     -- London Mayor Ken Livingstone

While tragedies like what happened in London today are unfortunately expected in today's world, they are still shocking and horrible. My heart goes out to all those in London today.
