| And Then | ||
marshmallow escaped i thought she was dead, because i hadn't seen her in 5 or so days and she hadn't eaten her food she had created a little nest under the bedding in the bottom of her cage days would pass without me seeing her, but i'd notice the food disappearing but this time the food wasn't going anywhere but when she took apart the cage and emptied it, there was no mouse inside i have no idea how she could have gotten out the cage wasn't open i'm pretty sure she didn't sneak past me as i was feeding her it's a mystery i think i'm going to set up a trap to try to recapture her before the cats get her ----- my sleep schedule has been incredibly haphazard of late some days i'll sleep 18-20 hours, other just 1 or 2 i'll drop into a deep depression, and not be able to get myself out of bed one day and the next, i'll be so up that i don't feel i need sleep it's been suggested that i go back on my celexa for the depression but i'm not depressed all the time and i don't want to be on psych meds again i like being off them i like thinking ----- i need to start posting more i have just not felt like interfacing with the general world much lately i haven't been a complete hermit, but i've been more isolated than i usually am i didn't even have a birthday party this year something that i generally do i just didn't feel up to arranging it i need to be more social, both online and off

| Jello and Mice | ||
The mice in the house aren't lasting very long now that Jello is back. First day back in the house and he's already caught one. Soon they will all be gone. I'm glad I at least saved Marshmallow. She's doing well in her cage, enjoying raisins, rice and beans. She runs on her wheel a lot, which keeps me up at night sometimes. I wish I could save the others, but I fear Jello will eat them before I can get humane traps.

| Deer Mouse | ||
I didn't think she was a deer mouse at first, but on looking at Marshmallow more closely and comparing her to deer mice online, I'm almost certain she is. Deer mice aren't normally found indoors in the suburbs, so it's a little odd that she was living in our kitchen. But she's cute, has been playing on her wheel, and seems to like her cage, so I think she's a keeper.

| What Kind of Mouse | ||
Been trying to figure out what species of mouse Marshmallow is. She doesn't look at all like a house mouse, her body is short and round and her eyes and ears are larger. Her tail is also a bit shorter than a house mouse's. She looks more like a wood mouse or a deer mouse, but not enough like them to be either. I have no idea what kind of mouse she is, she may be a rare sort. I've looked her up on the search engines and found nothing. I'm going to go to the library sometime this week and get a book on mice to try to figure out what kind she is.

| Marshmallow | ||
I just got back from Petco, picking up mouse supplies for Marshmallow. The two-level pink cage I got her rang up for $0.00. I didn't say anything and neither did the cashier, so I got it for free! Marshmallow favorite thing in the habitat so far is the wheel, she has been on it for most of the short time she's been in the there. I can't get over how adorable Marshmallow is. I hope she's happy in her new home.
