I had fun with recoiling at pride, even if it was a bit colder and rainier and windier than I would have liked. It's been an odd June weatherwise. Most of the candy thrown from the floats fell in the puddles, but the people passing out sunscreen and fans were hilarious. Obviously the event was planned in anticipation of a warmer day.

Every year the corporate side of pride gets more and more blatant. Near the beginning of the parade was a loud and obnoxious Delta Airlines float. Its booming stereo, by far louder than anything else in the parade, literally made me nauseous. I couldn't decided if I though the bad placement of the Stolichnaya float directly in front of the "Sober and Proud" group was amusing or disturbing.

All in all, though, I had a good time and enjoyed being there. While the weather wasn't wonderful, it was still a nice change from the normal swelter Pride is usually held in and groups like the Stonewall Warriors still counterbalance the corporateness to a degree. And of course, the Dykes on Bikes were kick ass.

There was a interesting creature in my dream last night. It was about a foot and a half long, round and flat, had a hard exoskeleton and resembled a crab without pincers in the front. It ran after me and the other people in my dream, trying to eat our skin and lay eggs in our brains. Most of the dream was spent running from this creature that could somehow get past doors and climb up and down elevator shafts. At one point I was on a curve in a dirt road out in the middle of nowhere. The was a large muddy puddle in the road. The strange creature had followed me there. In the muddy puddle I started communicating with the creature. We had a long discussion about how it was scared and didn't know what to do. We figured out that it could eat other foods, but it didn't want to stay. Soon it had stuck itself to a nearby ceiling (which was inexplicably next to the dirt road as if the dirt road were in the room with it even though the dirt road was in no room at all, that is the way of dreams). It was convinced no one would want a flesh eating, brain-egg laying parasite creature living around them. But, I gave it a peck to convince it that I was completely okay with it, and it decided to stay. I then woke up.

Met riga_mortia at the Diesel Café at 5:00pm yesterday. We walked to Claridon Hill, and went to the liquor store next to Johnny's Foodmaster. We picked up a couple whiskey nips. Drank them. They were really strong.

I hugged many soft trees on the way to riga_mortia's apartment. The moss on the trees was as soft as cat fur. I had to pet each tree.

At riga_mortia's house, we played Pass the Pigs for stakes. I owe riga_mortia a chocolate dish and she gets to dress me next time I go to the Diesel Café with her.

This morning, I talked to my new caseworker from the Social Security Office on the phone. She was very nice and very helpful. She walked me through the financial maze and told me the best ways to put everything. She's sending me some papers to sign and return and then I'm done.

This afternoon, merryperseis, grrldan, and I went to the Great Meadow. For our picnic lunch we had muffaletta on mini toasts, salsa biscuits, juicy watermelon, sparkling pink lemonade, and iced tea.

After lunch we played Tonk. While we were playing, it started raining. We all got completely soaked.

We walked back in the storm, I splashed in a couple puddles. I really enjoyed being out in the storm with friends.

As grrldan lives closer to the Great Meadow than I, we went back to his place. He loaned me a some very soft flannel pajamas to wear while he threw my soaked clothes in the washer and dryer. I really really want a nice pair of flannel pajamas to wear around the house. I am incredibly covetous of his.

While my clothes were drying, we watched The Muppet Movie. I hadn't watched it in many years and had forgotten how simply fabulous it was.

We went back to my apartment, where I made curried biscuits. purpleglitter came home and joined us for good conversations and a fun game of Bullshit.

purpleglitter and I plan to drink together tonight. We're going to drink Puddle Splashes.
