I was out back trying to heat up the compost pile so that like a fire it's heat can sustain itself, and... well... oops. I had a gallon tub of hot tap water and I poured it in the old brick barbecue pit that I'm using as a composter, and out the hole in front runs a opossum. I was worried at first that I injured it. Well, at first I laughed very loudly and then I worried. Either way, I'm pretty sure that the water wasn't hot enough to burn the opossum, and even though the opossum only fled and never squealed (like they did when I hit them with a tomatoe), to ease my mind I held my hand under the faucet for half a minute with the hot water and while the heat was uncomfortable I was uninjured. |

I had thought of the Building 19 food section as an equivalent to the dented cans section of Stop & Shop. Not any more, that can of tomatoe soup literally tasted like stale old vomit. Absolutely disgusting. I will never buy a food item from Building 19 again.
I dumped it out and made a pot of a good can of tomatoe soup from Stop & Shop, but couldn't get the bad taste out of my mouth. Then I got worried about what might have made the first can taste like vomit and made myself throw up to reduce the amount of whatever bad I just ate. The actual vomit didn't taste nearly as bad as the first can of soup, likely because it was mixed with the good can of soup I ate.
Afterwards, I brushed my teeth and the fowl aftertaste has been greatly reduced. However, I'm still worried I didn't get enough of the bad stuff out.
This experience made me realize one good thing.: my bulimic days are so strongly enough behind me that an episode like this isn't even triggery.

Project Three Meals went completely off today. I got no healthy snack, got no exercise, and went on a junk food binge. Don't worry, I am not following that binge up with a purge, those days are very long gone and I'm not going back.
I did get in my three meals, though, if that matters. For breakfast I had egg and swiss on an everything bagel, for lunch I had linguine in a tomatoed alfredo sauce, for dinner I had pizza. Oh well, tomorrow's another day.

From the The Universal Household Assistant or What Every One Should Know (1884): | Things to try. — Try popcorn for nausea. Try cranberries for malaria. Try a sun-bath for rheumatism. Try ginger ale for stomach cramps. Try clam broth for a weak stomach. Try cranberry poultice for erysipelas. Try a wet towel to the back of the neck when sleepless. Try swallowing saliva when troubled with sour stomach. Try eating fresh radishes and yellow turnips for gravel. Try eating onions and horseradish to relieve dropsical swellings. Try buttermilk for removal of freckles, tan, and butternut stains. Try taking your cod liver oil in tomato catsup, if you want to make it palatable. Try hard cider -- a wine-glass three times a day -- for ague and rheumatism. Try taking a nap in the afternoon if you are going to be out late in the evening. Try breathing the fumes of turpentine or carbolic acid to remove whooping cough. Try a cloth wrung out from cold water put about the neck at night for sore throat. Try snuffing powdered borax up the nostrils for catarrhal "cold in the head." Try walking with your hands behind you if you find yourself becoming bent forward. Try a silk handkerchief over the face when obliged to go against a cold piercing wind. Try planting sunflowers in your garden if compelled to live in a malarial district. | |

There were some somewhat shriveled grape tomatoes in the refrigerator. Still technically edible, but too shriveled for purpleglitter to eat and I detest eating tomatoes whole. I know there are plenty of animals around that would love them, so I went out to the fence at the end of the driveway and threw them into the backyard sometime after 2am. I didn't throw them all at once so as not to make a loud noise. After one throw that reached the trees near the back fence, I heard high pitched yellings and hissings of complaint. I'm guessing the opossum I've previously seen skulking about was in the brush and got nailed by a tomatoe. Grape tomatoes are small and are unlikely to have actually injured the opossum, so the interaction was simply humorous. Maybe eating the tomatoes will make up for getting nailed. |

Tonight, not knowing what to cook that purpleglitter would also like, I looked at the available ingredients and decided to attempt to make Spaghetti O's from scratch. I took a can of puréed tomatoes, some oregano, some garlic, some Mrs. Dash, some pepper, and for smoothness of flavour – smart balance spread. Dropped in mozzarella cheese and a few slices of american. Of course, the bag of ring pasta in the cupboard came in handy. It turned out quite good and more american cheese gave it a more Spaghetti O's flavor. |

Yesterday, as predicted, didn't work out for Project Five. For breakfast I had pizza; for lunch I had rotini and faux italian sausage in a jalapeño jack sauce; for dinner I had spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with portobello mushrooms and parmesan cheese; for my first healthy snack I had a clementine; for my second healthy snack I had tortillas with spinach and garlic hummus.
I also had a hand full of walnuts and the rest of the Godiva chocolate. Several people have argued that Godiva chocolate is a healthy snack. I'm still not ready to put it in that category – regardless, both the nuts and the Godiva were beyond the two healthy snack quota and would therefore be outside the Project Five plan whether or not the Godiva is healthy.
I didn't get my exercise in either. I need to find a good indoor exercise regimen that I can and will do.

Yesterday was Valentine's Days. purpleglitter gave me a heart of chocolates from Godiva, which is absolutely wonderful but ensures that I failed at Project Five yesterday and will again today. However, I can't entirely blame not making Project Five yesterday on the Godiva. I at a cheese danish, got no exercise, and had half a microwave pizza before bed. For breakfast yesterday, I had pizza; for lunch I had spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with portobello mushrooms and parmesan cheese; for dinner I had arepa de choclo; for my first healthy snack I had a clementine; and for my second healthy snack I didn't have one. I'll get back on track tomorrow. |

For breakfast yesterday I had pizza; for lunch I had spaghetti o's with monterey jack cheese; for dinner I had spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli in a tomatoe sauce with parmesan and green and black olives; for my first healthy snack I had spicy peanuts; for my second healthy snack I had chips and salsa - wait, that's not a healthy snack and neither was the salt and vinegar potatoe chips I had shortly after. Add in not meeting my exercise quota and I need to do better.

I didn't get in my exercise quota and I had a white chocolate Lindt ball. Mmm... it was good, but definitely not on the plan.

Yesterday didn't work at all for Project Five. For breakfast I had spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with mushrooms, peppers, and parmesan cheese; for lunch I had vegetable and paneer pakoras followed by shahi paneer korma with rice and naan, for a healthy snack I had tortillas with spinach and garlic hummus.
I did no real exercise and only ate 2 meals and 1 snack as opposed to 3 meals and 2 snacks. So, no dice on day 2.

Yesterday, for breakfast I had tomatoe soup with parmesan cheese; for lunch I had paneer tikka masala wrapped in a tortilla; for dinner I had spaghetti in tomatoe sauce with mushrooms, peppers, and parmesan cheese; for my first healthy snack I had peanuts; for my second healthy snack I had pumpkin seeds. I got in a good hour long walk around Arlington.
I would have made it, however I foiled myself first thing yesterday morning. Before I was awake enough to remember I was starting Project Five, I started gnawing on some thai barbecue tortilla chips.

For my first healthy snack I had cashews, for my second I had a clementine. I completed my exercise quota in the form of a cigar walk to Stop & Shop.

For breakfast I had pizza; for lunch I had dal tadka on forbidden black rice; for dinner I had lentil soup, marinated mushrooms, and asparagus; for my healthy snack I had pumpkin seeds. Still no success however. I got no exercise and late in the evening I cooked up some rotini in tomatoe sauce with parmesan, peppers, olives, and mushrooms for purpleglitter and had a plate of it myself (dinner for purpleglitter, essentially a large close-to-midnight snack for me). I'm eating healthier. Even if I haven't "succeeded" in Project Three Meals yet, healthier is what really matters. |

For breakfast yesterday, I had a fried egg sandwich with mozzarella and cheddar on a toasted focaccini roll; for lunch I had pizza; for dinner I had spaghetti in a tomatoe sauce with parmesan, mushrooms, olives, and peppers; for my healthy snack I had pumpkin seeds. Not to much different than the day before. However, I ate a several unhealthy snacks including chai cake and mustard won ton chips. I also only got in a 15 minute walk instead of the 30 minutes of exercise I need.

For my healthy snack I had pumpkin seeds. I while eating the pumpkin seeds, I devoured some olive tapenade on mini toasts – which really brought it into a more mealsworth of food. Additionally, my walk was far short of the half hour mark for exercise.
Not bad, but not quite there.
