“I'm outside the Trader Joe's in Arlington Heights. There's a sign in the window; it says "Ten Years". I remember when they put it in. I remember when the Trader Joe's... well, didn't even exist, and the Walgreen's, behind me, in the same parking lot, was just an abandoned old building. The Heights has really changed. It feels odd that it was so long ago. I don't know. I guess I've been in Arlington a long time now, officially. Well, I guess it was official a little while ago, but... it seems a little longer, now.”
“If I'm running ahead of schedule, I seem to have great luck with the buses. However, if I'm already late, they seem to just conspire to make me later.”
“Seasons are changing. I've noticed the leaves over the past couple weeks. Little bit of gold peeking out, little bit of red, you know? Little bit of purple. Fall tones starting to creep their way in. Tonight, though, the surest sign that summer is finally waning: I can see my breath!”
“I talked to my landlord. She's upset about the hacking of the tree, too. There's nothing really anyone can do about it at this point, but she has given me authority to oversee any future work around the house or the yard by anyone to make sure something like this doesn't happen again, which is really good, that no work will go on unless there's someone there, in other words generally me, to supervise. Since she lives in California, she can't really come over and watch to assure things go smoothly. So, at least this won't happen again.”
“Things are going well at the new place. Then unpacking is going well. the cats adjusted well. The birds have adjusted well. Lake and I have adjusted well. We getting internet access tomorrow which is very good, I've felt very cut off from the world. It's amazing how addicted I am to being in touch with everything. That's about that's about it.”
“Hello. I just spent my first night at the new place. I made several post yesterday about the move being completed, but apparently the LiveJournal Voice Post system ate them all.
It didn't feel like home until we get Mazzy & Paddington here. The cats made it home
I've got a lot to do today especially since I didn't get a lot done after the move because the mover were 5 hours late. So, another busy day. Soon I just to not have a busy day.
“The Movers finished moving everything out of my apartment and now they're at Lake's where they are moving everything out of Lake's apartment, at least everything that will be going. It seems to be going smoothly at this point, obviously a bit later then what I would have liked, but what are you gonna do?”
“Hi, they finally arrived. It's the same crew that move Anthea and we're back to the 3 guys, so the original rate. there are nice guys and they did a really good job moving Anthea.
So, hopefully, now that everything's been sorted out and they're here, everything will go well with the rest of the move and of course I'm going to knock on some wood for that. There, I just did it. I don't know if you can hear the knocking on the wood, but I did. Here, just so you can hear it. There, see? Probably heard it that time, eh?
“Now, so shortly after my last call, I talked to the Bell Rock Moving people and they said they are sending out a different truck and it would have been there in twenty minutes which would have, what, been almost an hour ago. And, uh, they are sending 4 guys so it will cost more money per hour for some reason, because they're late I guess?
But, we can't go with someone else at this point. I don't know what's up with these people. Um, but now I just talked to them and they said, "Oh, it's going to be twenty minutes". So, I mean, I could have done something with this time, but no, I sit around here waiting for these idiots.
I'm just getting very frustrated, it's one thing after another, they keep fucking up, and they're going charge me more for their fuck-ups and it's going to rain. If it thunderstorms they're going to sitting around here with their thumbs up their asses charging me per hour for it and they could have done it during the nice weather we had all morning.
Oh my gosh, I am very very angry at this point. Hopefully they'll arrive soon.
I wish I could just go with someone else. I really do. But at this point, you know, you have to hire movers in advance. You can't switch this day. I have to be gone today. I can't get anyone else. There's not time. I'll wait for these idiots.”
“I just talked to the movers and they're going to be even later. They're planning on getting here at 2:00 now, so I'm going to go find something to do for lunch.”
“Watching a rumble of house sparrow hens in the front of the house of clock. 5 of them having a big brawl.
The movers I just talked to, they're going to be here around 12:15. So, I was hoping to start cleaning up house of clocks at that point and be done with the move. But you know, Murphy's Law and all.
“Well, I just talked to the movers. They locked the keys in the moving truck and they're waiting for a locksmith and they probably won't be arriving un till around 11. I wish I know that earlier, I wouldn't have worked my self so hard, I would of had plenty of time to get ready this morning, but I guess I can wait.
I don't want to do this stuff at the house until they get here because I don't want to, okay, I just thought of the energy yet. I was going to come up with a really good excuse not to do yet, but I didn't really have one. So, good, I will still do it after work, they leave.
See, I'm still not fully awake, I didn't get much sleep last night, at all, umm... but... anyway... soon, soon, soon.”
“The movers should be here momentarily, and I'm done. Well not done, I've still got stuff to do after they move the stuff out, but I'm ready for them. I didn't know if I'd make it. I thought I would, but I wasn't sure. But, I did it.
I'm almost done, but I think I'm going to get some rest and try to finish it up before the movers get here or while they doing the down stairs I could do the up stairs or something. I just can't do any more right now.”
“Finished with the livingroom, so that's 3 down 1 to go -- the biggest one to go, the bedroom. Probably take me another hour, so I'm going to be up very late and then getting up very early and then putting in another full day dealing with this.
So... I'm going to be very beat tomorrow and I'm going to sleep for a very very very long time
“I finished the playroom. So that's 2 down, 2 to go.
Feeling a bit of a zombie now. I've still got quite a bit. The bedroom of course is going to be the biggest project. Still got the livingroom too.
I damaged the clock Dave made. The glitter clock. It hasn't been hanging for a while. I damaged the glitter. It was a neat clock. I think it's fixable. I'm probably going to give most of the clocks away, if not all.
“When I started this packing project there were 4 rooms witch had things that I needed to take. Those 4 rooms where the kitchen, the livingroom, the playroom, and my bedroom. I've packed everything that I needed to take out of the kitchen at this point. I just did that. The other rooms I've done quite a bit of work on but they still need to be packed. 1 down 3 to go.
The place is a mess and I'm going to come back and clean later in the day tomorrow. My 1st priority is to get everything that I'm taking to the new place then clean up the old place. I'm not going to leave this place a mess.
Hopefully I'll have another progress report later.
